2026-27 Virginia Hazing & Alcohol Overdose Education Programs

Thank you for licensing the Gordie Center's 2026-27 Hazing & Alcohol Overdose Education Programs (only available for colleges in Virginia -- if you are not a Virginia institution, click here for the programs available to your institution). There are four sets of PowerPoint slides: potential/new members of student organizations, current members of student organizations, current members 2.0 (which builds on the current members program and is meant to be used in subsequent years), and organization advisors. The cost of licensing each program is $500, and includes:

  • a PowerPoint slide deck addressing Virginia law, hazing identification, the hidden harm of hazing, standard drink definitions, the PUBS signs of alcohol overdose, and bystander intervention. The Current Members and Advisors programs include content on how to create healthy new member programs, and Current Members 2.0 focuses more on discussion within individual organizations;
  • slides that can be customized with campus-specific positive social norms, campus hazing policies, medical amnesty policies, reporting procedures, and resources;
  • detailed facilitation notes for each slide;
  • embedded videos, activities, and other audience engagement strategies; and
  • facilitator training.*

    • *The Gordie Center hosted a facilitator training on May 19, 2026. A recording of that facilitation training will be provided to anyone who was unable to attend. At least two Licensee representatives must view the corresponding recorded facilitator training for each program licensed.

    All licenses will also require a signed contract between your institution and the University of Virginia (click here to initiate the contract process if you have not already done so). Once the contract is signed, you will receive access to the licensed PowerPoint presentation and facilitator training recording.

    This program is a follow-on program that builds on the Current Member program, customized for an audience of Current Members of student organizations. Current Members 2.0 focuses more on discussion and is ideally delivered at the organizational level or in a space where members of similar organizations can discuss.

    Customize Virginia Hazing & Alcohol Overdose Education Programs
    The Gordie Center will customize your licensed programs using the institution colors and logos that you provide for an additional fee of $50 per program. Please email your institution's brand #HEX colors (up to 3 colors may be customized) and a high-resolution logo (.pdf, .eps, or .ai) to gordiecenter@virginia.edu. Custom programs will be delivered beginning in mid-June 2026. Please allow up to 10 business days after providing your brand colors and high-resolution logo for custom program delivery, and contact the Gordie Center at 434-982-0703 should you have urgent requests.

    2026-27 Facilitator Training
    At least two representatives of your institution must attend or view the Facilitator Training. Facilitator Training will be conducted in person (with a Zoom option) from 10 AM to 5 PM on May 19, 2026, at James Madison University by Gordie Center staff. A recording will be provided to schools to share with those unable to attend. Attendance by Zoom and viewing the recording are free (included in the license fee). Attendance in person has a $50 per person fee (includes breakfast, lunch, and parking).

    You may register for the training before the licensing agreement is finalized (click here to register for Facilitator Training -- registration deadline is May 12).
