Virtual HAZE Presentation

This is a virtual presentation of the 37-minute documentary film HAZE followed by a discussion facilitated by a Gordie Center staff member. This presentation lasts 1 hour.

This presentation is intended for audiences of 100 participants or fewer. If you would like to request a presentation for an audience larger than 100 participants, please contact the Gordie Center.

After purchasing this presentation, please fill out the Gordie Center Presentation Request form to provide more information about your audience and desired date. Please provide 2 weeks of lead time prior to your requested date. A Gordie Center staff member will reach out to your to schedule within 2 business days of receiving your request form.

  • If you already own HAZE, a screening of the film facilitated by a Gordie Center staff member is $100.
  • If you do not own HAZE and would like to rent the film for this presentation and have a Gordie Center staff member facilitate the screening, the cost is $150 which includes the rental fee.
  • If you do not own HAZE and would like to purchase the film for future use and have one presentation facilitated by a Gordie Center staff member, the cost is $400 which includes the purchase price of the film.

    Virtual Alcohol & Hazing: The Basics Training

    This is a virtual Alcohol & Hazing: The Basics training, facilitated by a Gordie Center staff member. This training lasts 1 hour, and the cost includes a brief consultation to tailor the training for your audience.

    This interactive virtual training provides critical basic information about alcohol, such as how to measure a standard drink and the signs of alcohol overdose. The training also covers the basics of hazing - how hazing is defined, why it's nearly impossible to consent, and how it escalates. We also cover bystander intervention and empower students with tools and knowledge to intervene.

    Virtual Training: Alcohol, Cannabis, & Athletic Team Success

    This is a virtual training on Alcohol, Cannabis, and Athletic Team Success, facilitated by a Gordie Center APPLE Athletics staff member. This training lasts 1 hour, and the cost includes a brief consultation to tailor the training for your audience.

    Student-athletes are more likely to experience harm related to alcohol use compared to their non-athlete peers. However, many student-athletes are unaware that alcohol and cannabis can negatively impact athletic performance. Through an interactive presentation using audience response technology, the presenter(s) will review the performance impacts of alcohol and cannabis use, including aerobic capacity, immune response, and injury recovery. The latest NCAA research on student-athlete substance use norms, and considerations for adapting social norms-based interventions will be addressed.

    Virtual Parent Q&A - Hazing and Alcohol Overdose

    Gather your fellow parents of high school or college students and bring in a Gordie Center expert to answer your questions! This is a virtual Q&A session about hazing and alcohol overdose with a Gordie Center staff member and parents. This session can last anywhere from 30-60 minutes, depending on the number of parent questions. The Q&A session pairs well with HAZE documentary screenings (although the film screening is not required!) -- if your student will be watching the film, this Q&A session can help you continue the conversation with them at home.

    This interactive virtual training is meant for high school or college students. During this training, we provide basic alcohol education, covering topics such as standard drink sizes, BAC, tolerance, safer drinking guidelines, and the PUBS signs of alcohol overdose.

    Virtual Step UP! Bystander Intervention Training

    This is a virtual Step UP! Bystander Intervention Training with a hazing focus, facilitated by a Gordie Center staff member. This training lasts 1 hour, and the cost includes a brief consultation to tailor the training for your audience.

    Step UP! is a prosocial behavior and bystander intervention program that educates students to be proactive in helping others. It is considered to be the most versatile and comprehensive bystander intervention program available. Step UP! training provides a framework explaining the bystander effect, reviews relevant research and teaches skills for intervening successfully using the 5 Decision Making Steps, the 5 Ds and the S.E.E.K. Model (Safe; Early; Effective; Kind). Teaching people about the barriers to helping as well as strategies, skills and the determinants of prosocial behavior makes them more likely to help in the future.

    The goals of Step UP! are to:

  • Raise awareness of helping behaviors
  • Increase motivation to help
  • Develop skills and confidence when responding to problems or concerns
  • Ensure the safety and well-being of self and others

    This is a virtual Alcohol Misuse & Hazing Intervention for Advisors training, facilitated by a Gordie Center staff member. This training lasts 1 hour, and the cost includes a brief consultation to tailor the training for your audience.

    This interactive virtual training is meant for student organization advisors. During this training, we provide alcohol and hazing prevention education, and discuss the role of advisors in preventing tragedies related to hazing and alcohol overdose.
