This is a virtual training on Alcohol, Cannabis, and Athletic Team Success, facilitated by a Gordie Center APPLE Athletics staff member. This training lasts 1 hour, and the cost includes a brief consultation to tailor the training for your audience.
Student-athletes are more likely to experience harm related to alcohol use compared to their non-athlete peers. However, many student-athletes are unaware that alcohol and cannabis can negatively impact athletic performance. Through an interactive presentation using audience response technology, the presenter(s) will review the performance impacts of alcohol and cannabis use, including aerobic capacity, immune response, and injury recovery. The latest NCAA research on student-athlete substance use norms, and considerations for adapting social norms-based interventions will be addressed.
